Here’s my honest review of the CurrentBody Red Light Therapy LED Mask. This has been one of my most requested reviews, and I wanted to make sure I gave it a good go before giving you my honest thoughts. But first off…
Why I Chose the CurrentBody LED Mask
Just a heads-up: some links in this post are affiliate links, which means if you click and buy, I might earn a little commission– but don’t worry, it doesn’t cost you anything extra. And as always, I only share my genuine opinion.
I’m in my late 30s now and I’ve started noticing the natural effects of ageing on my skin. Everyone will have a different position on ageing and ‘anti-ageing’ (and there’s a whole separate conversation to be had about capitalism and the obsession with unrealistic ‘youthfulness’…), but I’d say I’m somewhere in the middle. I’m trying to embrace ageing as a privilege and am not looking for drastic or invasive treatments. But I do want to take care of my skin in a way that maintains good skin health and avoid premature signs of ageing. Does that sound like you?
The CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Mask seemed like the perfect solution: a non-invasive, at-home skincare device that could help with anti-ageing, evening out skin tone, and improving overall glow.

Which LED Mask did I buy?
There are so many brands out there to chose from (popular ones being from CurrentBody, Omnilux and Shark.) In the end I opted for CurrentBody.
CurrentBody offers two versions: the LED Mask Series 1 and the newer LED Mask Series 2. The upgraded model has more lights (physical lights and wavelengths) and added chin and neck coverage. But it costs around £100 more.
Since I wasn’t sure how much I’d use it (and if it actually works), I went with the cheaper CurrentBody LED Mask Series 1 and got it as a birthday present from my family.
Note: Like most LED masks, the CurrentBody Skin LED Mask isn’t tested for pregnant or nursing individuals. Always check with your doctor/get medical advice before using
How the Mask Works
Red light therapy has been used in dermatology for years, with studies showing it can support skin healing, boost collagen production, and improve overall skin appearance.

This mask comes with:
- Flexible silicone design with cut-outs for eyes, nose, and mouth
- Removable eye guards to protect your eyes from the red light
- A single adjustable Velcro strap for fit
- Portable power bank (no clip)
The mask charges easily (using a USB to USB-C charger), and I only need to recharge it about once every 2 weeks with daily use.
Comfort & Practicality

- Fit: The mask is comfortable- the silicone is flexible and soft, but it doesn’t fit perfectly, gaping around the chin and jawline. The newer Series 2 seems to have addressed this with an improved design that extends to cover the jaw and chin area.
- Power bank: A bit annoying since it dangles unless you have a pocket. Again, it looks like they addressed this in the newer Series 2 with a clip
- Multitasking with the mask: You’ll see people doing this all the time, and it makes it seem like it will fit seamlessly into your day. But something I realised only after I got one is: if you wear glasses, you can’t really comfortably wear them with the mask. If your eyesight is as terrible as mine, it means no walking around freely or easily working on a laptop while it’s on. This limits what I can do with it on, and therefore when I wear it.
- Timing: It will auto-switch off after 10min which makes it’s easy to use with no real thinking needed. I prefer using it in the morning right after cleansing (before sunscreen) or in the evening after washing my face.
Does the CurrentBody LED Mask Actually Work? (Before and after photos)
Now here’s the part you’ve been waiting for: Does it actually work?

If you asked me at 4 weeks, I would’ve said yes, I think the CurrentBody LED mask works. But it’s 8 weeks down the line that I’m really seeing the changes! Just have a look at these photos (after photos are in the green hijab and pink cardigan).
- My skin has a healthier, natural glow.
- Friends and family have commented that my skin looks fresher- even asking if I was wearing makeup when I wasn’t.
- My overall skin tone looks more even.
- Fine lines are less noticeable.
But, there’s one major factor you need to know before you buy one…

What’s the catch?
This is no overnight one-time miracle product. The results of the LED mask takes time and not just that-it takes consistency. You’ll need to commit to using it several times per week to see results (I use it daily).
On the surface, this doesn’t seem like a big deal but I found that harder than I expected. Maybe I’m just terrible at switching off but to begin with, finding the time to sit for 10min and put the mask on felt like a chore- probably because I would put it on before bed when I’m already exhausted and ready to go to sleep! (And also because of the glasses thing, I can’t read my book with it on). But once I got into the habit and started to see the results- well, it’s part of my day now!
I guess the reason why I want to hammer this home is because I am so guilty of buying something and expecting it to be my ‘magic fix’, without considering how it would fit into my life. Running around with the kids, juggling a home and work, as well as a baby that slept terribly- I wasn’t really in a position to prioritise myself. So when I first got it, I’d use it half-heartedly and even less when I wasn’t sure it was doing anything. It’s only 6 months later when life is less chaotic that I’ve been able to build in those routines and habits for myself and reap the benefits of the mask.
Final Verdict: Is the CurrentBody LED Mask Worth It?
If you’re looking for a convenient, non-invasive way to boost your skincare routine, I’d definitely recommend the CurrentBody Skin LED Light Therapy Series 1 Mask. It won’t deliver overnight miracles, but with regular use, I’ve seen improvements in glow, texture, and overall skin health.
The key is consistency– make it part of your routine, and you’ll get the most out of it. Plus, it doubles as a good excuse to carve out 10 minutes of self-care in your day. And we could all do with a bit of that!
It is expensive so I would really think about how you would use it. But ultimately, would I repurchase? Yes. Absolutely yes! I love the improvement I’ve seen in my skin and doubly so that I’ve been able to achieve this with low effort and without leaving my home! If I were buying again, I’d probably try and stretch the extra ££ and go for the upgraded CurrentBody LED Mask Series 2 for the better chin/jaw coverage and power-bank clip (as well as extra oomf in the LEDs) but the Series 1 does the job well enough!
So what do you think?
I’d love to hear your thoughts? Have you got one? Are you tempted to get one? Are you seeing any difference in my photos? Obviously my husband couldn’t tell at all but the girls’ Whatsapp group saw it in seconds!
love,

CurrentBody LED Mask Series 1 Summary
Pros:
✅ Noticeable improvement in glow & texture
✅ Non-invasive, at-home skincare treatment
✅ Long battery life
✅ Encourages a 10-minute self-care break
Cons:
❌ Expensive upfront cost
❌ Requires consistent use for results
❌ Not as practical for glasses wearers for multi-tasking
❌ Power bank design and gaping of mask (which seems addressed in Series 2 version of the mask)
I am 67 years old and do Eva Fraser Facial Workout, again consistency is the key, as, if you stop the exercises your face will return to, what nature intended. The difference is that the exercises £15, one time purchase, can be put onto your mobile and take, I would say about the same time, but can be done anywhere. Such a shame I could not add a picture
Oh wow! Will definitely Google that. Consistency really is the main thing- as my dad says, ‘nothing in life is easy!’
I can definitely see a difference but I think the important thing is whether you can and the good news is that you can! I feel like I’ve seen these all over instagram and while I’m not looking to buy one, it’s been really interesting to read an honest review and see the before and after photos. Thank you!
Ahh I’m glad I’m not just seeing things with the photos!
